Fleet Feet Sports, headquartered in McAllen, Texas, continues its expansion in Texas by establishing its newest franchise in McAllen. Sandra and Hugo Gutierrez will own and run the new business, located in The Shops at 29 at 2700 W. Expressway 83, near the McAllen Convention Center and eight miles from the US-Mexico border. A ribbon-cutting ceremony will occur today at 10 a.m., followed by a grand opening event on March 5.

John Moloznik, Fleet Feet’s Vice President of Development, is thrilled to officially welcome Sandra, Hugo, and their son Diego to the Fleet Feet family. The business has been keen to expand its presence in McAllen and is thrilled to be partnering with the Gutierrez family. They are passionate about running and community, and they are confident in their ability to positively impact McAllen immediately and permanently.

The Gutierrez family has been ardent runners for over two decades, competing in countless marathons, half-marathons, 5Ks, and 10Ks. Hugo Gutierrez’s family came to the Rio Grande Valley following his honorable discharge from the United States Navy in 1995. While the neighborhood offered a variety of outdoor trails, gyms, running events, and other fitness activities, the Gutierrez family recognized a need for more structured support to assist community people in reaching their running, walking, and general fitness goals.

Hugo Gutierrez explained that when he and his family visited a Fleet Feet store for the first time, they were so taken aback by the staff’s expertise and exceptional customer care that they quickly recognized what had gone lacking in the Rio Grande Valley region. They coupled their passion for running with a well-known national brand, Fleet Fleet, and are excited to deliver the company’s knowledge and resources to their wonderful community members.

Fleet Feet McAllen will use the brand’s exclusive fit id® tailored outfitting experience, including 3D foot scanning and dynamic pressure mapping. Outfitters may use the pressure mapping software, which will be available in November 2020, to determine each foot’s unique pathway and weight distribution as an individual walks across a three-and-a-half-foot long force plate. These measurements enable Fleet Feet’s ability to offer customized footwear solutions through Superfeet’s ME3D range of personalized insoles.

Fleet Feet opened its doors in 1976 in Sacramento, California. What began as a running store quickly developed into a community center for runners. Today, Fleet Feet’s nationwide network of community-based retail locations is a source of inspiration, demonstrating how Running Changes Everything®. Fleet Feet’s continuous development is fuelled by constant innovation, such as its own proprietary outfitting experience, fit id®, which utilizes 3D foot scanning and dynamic pressure mapping to provide customized footwear solutions for every runner, walker, and fitness enthusiast of all abilities.
