The holiday season can bring about a lot of emotions. Adults, going through thick and thin have a certain level of understanding. But children, should not be devoid of the joys of childhood.

Second Chance Toys, A Non-profit Organization, and their efforts:

The Second Chance Toys, a non-profit organization believes children’s “work” is their play. Toys give kids the incentive and the means to practice self-control from the time they are very young. Toys give kids a reason to learn how to roll, sit, crawl, stand, and walk. Meanwhile, toys are a great source to teach children that their bodies are distinct from the things they hold in their hands. Children can learn about shape, weight, and size through toy play. They can also learn about gravity by dropping and throwing toys.

According to the National Institute for Early Education Research, children don’t acquire the necessary motor skills if they don’t have enough toys. While playing with toys, children pick up language skills. Infant toys are essential for brain development that influences learning later in life, according to studies.

The statistics support that 22% of all children in the US. That indicates nearly 14 million, reside in homes with annual incomes of less than the federal poverty line, which for a family of four is $22,050. The organization encourages donating lightly used plastic toys that make a huge impact on the life of a struggling child. Moreover, the initiative also helps to keep non-biodegradable plastics out of landfills.

Zoe Cook-Nadel, the Director of Second Chance Toys, the non-profit organization mentions, “Our partnership with 1-800-GOT-JUNK? is without question one of the greatest assets to the Second Chance Toys operation and has allowed us to achieve a stronger positive social and environmental impact.”
