Adam and Charlee Ruben, franchisees of children’s STEAM ( (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) brand Snapology in Lehi, Utah, have expanded their portfolio by acquiring three existing and five new Premier Martial Arts locations in the state. They are now multi-brand owners with Unleashed Brands, a youth enrichment franchise platform company. The Rubens’ goal is to provide more opportunities for youth in Utah communities to learn, play and grow.
Adam previously worked in the tech industry while Charlee was a stay-at-home mom. Their interest in franchise ownership was piqued after seeing other family members find success in it. As parents to four young children, they were passionate about finding youth enrichment programs that provided children with hands-on, interactive learning experiences. They discovered Snapology, the No. 1 children’s STEAM franchise, in 2019 and have since become one of its top-performing franchises.
Premier Martial Arts, rated No. 1 in Children’s Fitness Programs by Entrepreneur’s Franchise 500 ranking, offers karate, krav maga and kickboxing instruction to help children and adults develop life skills. The Rubens believe that the business models of Snapology and Premier Martial Arts complement each other and plan to operate the new Premier Martial Arts locations by utilizing resources across both brands, as they appeal to a similar customer demographic. The Rubens plan to take a more hands-on approach in leading Premier Martial Arts, with Adam’s sister and brother-in-law, Rachel and Rich Poulsen, joining the ownership team.
The Rubens now own and operate Premier Martial Arts locations in Riverton, Draper and Pleasant Grove, with plans to expand to Oquirrh, Erda, Alpine, Springville and Daybreak. Unleashed Brands, which aims to “Build Great Kids” through a seamless enrichment journey, is backed by a management team with over 150 years of combined consumer industry experience.
