By signing a new franchise deal with XP League, the first and biggest esports franchise in North America, Kurt Asesor, an experienced franchisee and franchise business consultant for Premier Martial Arts (PMA), has increased his portfolio with Unleashed Brands. Kurt recently opened the XP League of Weston and presently owns and runs three PMA locations in Florida, including Weston-Sunrise, Naples, and Plantation.

Kurt served as a manager and martial arts instructor for several companies before opening his franchise, including the American Taekwondo Association. In 2017, he converted a different martial arts studio to a PMA studio and launched his first PMA studio in Weston. Kurt later acquired a license for a Plantation PMA studio and turned it into a franchise when PMA started licensing in 2018. He kept growing his portfolio of franchises, and by the end of 2020, he had added a third PMA studio to Florida, in Naples, increasing his total to three.

Kurt was originally drawn to XP League due to his love of gaming as well as the possibility of employment and student retention. The esports brand is a perfect fit for his company because its target market is similar to that of his PMA studios. Asesor’s current PMA instructors now make up the majority of his employees at XP League, illustrating how the instructor skill set can be transferred from one industry to another. More than half of his XP League clients are also PMA classroom members, which helps him retain students.
